Only 101 Plymouth A-990’s were produced and most of these cars were converted to altered wheelbase cars for the 1966 match race season. Others met more unfortunate ends. While not an original A-990, this 1965 Belvedere is a meticulous recreation of the early Hemi race cars. The heart of this sensational Hemi starts with the monster elephant 547 Cubic inches which generates 710 brutal horsepower at 6200 rpm and an astonishing 730 pounds of torque at 4500 rpm. It is equipped with Stage V aluminum heads and a Stage V top fuel rocker system. Fuel is fed through a magnesium cross ram manifold with tow holley four barrel carburetors. A 727 automatic transmission moves the power to a Dana 60 with 355 sure-grip axle. A complete list of all components used ( and only the very best were used) as well as all ratios, torque specs, gap measurements, valve adjustments, and all other figures accompany the car. This car was completed in December of 2007. 200 carfeul test miles have been put on the car to ensure everything functions perfectly. The car has been dyno tuned as well. The builder of this car is extremely well known in these circles and is very well respected for the Mopars he builds. This car was a complete nut and bolt rotisserie restoration and is perfect from top to bottom and is very highly detailed throughout. If you think you can handle it, you will not be disappointed.
