1959 Fiat 1200 Convertible
The Tipo 118 Series Pininfarina-penned cabriolets were first seen at Geneva in 1959, replacing the ‘TV’ Tipo 103 Series cars, though still built on the sporting 103TV platform. Offered in two versions, the 1200 - 118G and the 1500 - 118H, this pretty little sports car was well received. The 1221cc engine, taken from the 1200 saloon, was augmented with a twin choke carburettor and produced 63hp which, allied to an all-up weight of less than one ton and impeccable handling, made for lively performance. Never officially imported to the UK and always in left-hand-drive format, the production of 11,000 was split between mainland Europe and North America. This is a wonderful driving example with a very interesting history.
